Irene M. Royse, 93, of Monticello, passed away at 11:20 a.m., June 3, 2013 at the Piatt County Nursing Home, Monticello.

Irene was born on June 25, 1919 in Nancy, KY, the daughter of Carl and Zula (Norfleet) Richardson. She married Lynn Piatt Royse on December 28, 1946 in Monticello, IL. He passed away May 16, 2007.

Survivors include her sons; Steve (Connie) Royse and Rick Royse both of Monticello, daughter; Susan Royse of Paragould, AR, 8 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, brother; Urmel (Marilyn) Richardson of Monticello, sisters; Barbara Ellis of Monticello and Helen Smith of Mahomet, and sister-in-law; Marjorie Richardson of Pine Village, IN. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother (Herschel Richardson) and 2 sisters (Jeanice Elliot and Leva Wileaver).

Irene was a saleswoman at the Kaiser’s Department Store in Monticello. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Monticello and active in the local Democrat Party.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 6, 2013 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Ingram officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Monticello Township Cemetery.
