David R. Drake, 68, of Mt. Pulaski, passed away at 5:22 P.M. on Friday, June 14, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

David was born in Decatur, IL on August 29, 1944, son of Carlton Everett and Doris Elwanda Hoaglin Drake. He was united in marriage to Mary Maxvill on September 29, 1989 in Flagstaff, Az. She survives in Mt. Pulaski. Other survivors include: one daughter; Renay (Steve) Anderson of Elkhart,IL; one sister: Debbie Ciotti of Springfield,IL; one uncle: Bob (Chloe) Hoaglin of Latham,IL; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents, two aunts, and two uncles.

He worked at the Lincoln Developmental Center as a Mental Health Tech for 33 years. He also was a member of the bands, Tinkers Dam, Greater Decatur Rhythm and Blues Review, Shady Lady and the Moon Cats, and he was an avid bowler. .

Services for David will be 11 A.M. Wednesday June 19, 2013 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mt Pulaski with Rachel Stockle officiating. A visitation will be two hours prior to service. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Pulaski Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics.
