Dorothy Mae Ping of Oreana

Dorothy Mae Ping, 61, of Oreana, died at 3:15 p.m., Friday (June 14, 2013) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.

 

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, in Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, with Deacon Steve Tamburini officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, with 7 p.m. rosary. Mrs. Ping was born March 31, 1952, in Galesburg, the daughter of Benjamin Simpson and Ruth Cecil. She was raised in the Catholic faith. Dorothy worked as a Mental Health Tech at McFarlin in Springfield. She got her Associates degree in nursing. Dorothy enjoyed photography, gardening, crocheting, sewing, food, going to the movies and watching TV. She married Nathan T. Ping on July 1, 1989, in Decatur.

 

Surviving are her husband; children, Jennifer Douglas and husband Marc; Kristopher Ping, all of Decatur; Sarah Young and husband Kyle of Blue Mound; sisters, Linda Ward of Galesburg; Jane Mahnesmith of Wataga; Joyce Castro of Tulare, Calif.; grandchildren, Gabriel Thompson, Reed Young and Chase Young.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
