Herbert F. Lust

 Herbert F. Lust, Sr., 87, of Bement, Illinois passed Thursday, March 30, 2017 at 11:15 pm at Bement Health Care Center, Bement, Illinois.
 
Visitation is 4-6 pm, Sunday, April 2, at Hillgoss-Shrader Funeral Home, 66 East U.S. Highway 36, Atwood, Illinois, with Masonic Rites immediately following at 6 pm. Funeral Services will be Monday, April 3 at the funeral home with burial following at the Bement Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded.
 
Herb was born on July 18, 1929 on the family farm, rural Hammond, the son of Henry C. and Audrey V. Emery Lust. He married Frances “Ann” Halterman on November 12, 1953 in the Bement Christian Church.
 
Surviving family are his wife, Ann, and children: Herb Lust, Jr., of Hammond, Howard (Kay) Lust of Bement, Kathryn Lust of San Francisco, CA, and Donna (John) Parks of Urbana, IL; Grandchildren Kristopher Lust, Courtney Brown, Jennifer Lust, Nicholas (Moira) Lust, and Shelby Lust; 3 great-grandchildren; and brother, Leland (Delores) Lust of Hammond. He was preceded by his parents, daughter Cynthia Ann Lust, in-laws Joe and Frances Halterman, and daughter in-law, Cheryl Lust.
 
Herb was a water main contractor by profession, owner and operator of Bement Plumbing & Supplies Company, as well as a proud Central Illinois farmer. Raised in the United Methodist Church of Hammond, he served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, advancing in rank to Military Police and served his last months at Governors Island, New York. A committed provider, his greatest joys were his marriage to Ann, raising their 5 children, and the solace of working the farm. He was a member of Bement Masonic Lodge #365, AF & AM, Albert Parker American Legion Post #620 and the Moose Lodge of Champaign.
