Mildred Simpkins Ogden of Heyworth

Mildred Simpkins Ogden, 89, Heyworth, died Friday (Feb. 14, 2014) at Manor Court, Clinton.

Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Burial will follow in Heyworth Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to the Heyworth Ambulance Service.

Mildred was born Nov. 3, 1924, at Evansville, Ind., a daughter of Albert and Lola Ann Shrode Youngblood. She married Charles Simpkins on June 5, 1943, at St. Charles, Mo. He died April 19, 1969. She married Daniel E. Ogden on Nov. 17, 1973, at Heyworth. Dan died July 7, 2008.

Survivors included two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Wickenhauser, Heyworth, and Marcia (Gilbert) Forrest, Saybrook; four grandchildren, Jerry (Amy) Wickenhauser and Ronny Wickenhauser, Douglas (Audra) Forrest and Kimberly Forrest; 10 great-grandchildren, Adam, Megan, Austin, Jack and Ruth Wickenhauser, and Christopher, Chelsea, Tressa, Leah and Natalie Forrest; a great-great-grandson, Maddox Forrest; three sisters, Mary Louise (Robert) Geske, Bloomington; Thelma Marlene Bates, Evansville, Ind.; and Ruby Marie Kujawski, Port Charlotte, Fla.; and three sisters-in-law, Marian Youngblood, Veda Youngblood and Juanita Youngblood; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents, seven brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Mildred worked for many years as a sales clerk for McClelland’s, Livingston’s, Klemm’s and Miller’s True Value, all in Bloomington, prior to her retirement.

She was a member of the Heyworth Young at Heart and Heyworth Golden Agers.

Mildred enjoyed decorating for the holidays, having a theme for each month of the year, and enjoyed showing family and friends the fruits of her labor.
