David O. Frederick of Monticello

David O. Fredrick, 73, of Monticello

Died Thursday February 13, 2014 at 9:19 p.m. at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

David was born November 10, 1940 in Elgin, Illinois. Son of Lillian G (Oerkfitz) and Wilbur M. Fredrick.

He married Charlotte Hanson on January 11, 1973 in San Diego California, she survives.

Also surviving are one son, David W. Fredrick (Dana) of Quincy. One daughter Angela K. Gadbury (Steven) of Mahomet. Three grandchildren Jacob P. Gadbury, Jared M. Gadbury, and Jackson D. Fredrick. One sister Kay Carnes (David) of Monticello. His four legged kids Buddy and Sugar.

He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1958. He retired from the US Navy in 1977. He worked for EMI and Honeywell in Los Angeles, California for 9 years before moving to Monticello. He worked for Municipal Electronics in Decatur until 2012. He belonged to the Fleet Reserve North Central Association Region Branch 221 Peoria. He also belonged to American Legion Post 24 of Champaign and was post commander for 3 years. He belonged to LST 325 museum of Evanston, Indiana. He was a member of the Tin Can Sailor Association. He had a love for computer technology and genealogy and enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

Graveside services will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL on Friday February 21, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the family for expenses or to the organization of donor’s choice.
