Mary Alice McIntosh

Mary Alice McIntosh, from Clinton, IL, who has lived the past few years in Johns Creek, GA, passed away 8:11 A.M. May 28, 2023. She was 97 years of age.

Born in Clinton in 1925, she was the oldest child of Clint and Loretta (Thorp) Luker. She married Ben McIntosh in 1949, and together, they had three children. Ben passed away on March 16, 1989.

As a young adult, Mary Alice worked as a legal secretary for Bill Smith, Sr. Later she worked for the Illinois Central Railroad out of Clinton, Champaign, and Decatur, IL.

She was a collector of Hummel figurines and antiques. And she loved to travel! Though she devoted her life to her family, including her special needs son, Ben Lynn, she was always ready to pack her red, under-the-airline-seat bag and travel to Hawaii, China, France, or Germany with her daughter. That travel included a red-eye to red-eye flight trip to spend an incredible day in San Francisco. She loved bringing back treasures - with no consideration as to if they would fit in her luggage or not!

Mary Alice was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Ben; and her middle son, Ben Lynn.

She is survived by her other two children: her daughter Candy (Bruce) Kasch of Johns Creek, GA and her son Barry (Angela) McIntosh of South Carolina and Tybee Island, GA.

A graveside service only, per Mary Alice’s request, will be held 10 AM, Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Mausoleum Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL; with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.
