Mildred Coppage Schutte Frese, 99 of Clinton, IL formerly of Quincy, IL passed away 10:28 AM August 1, 2021, at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 A.M. Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Rev. Fr. James Henning celebrant. Visitation will be 10:30 – 11:30 AM Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 5, 2021, at Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements..

Mildred Ellen Coppage Schutte Frese was born July 12, 1922, in Macon, MO the daughter of Cecil E. and Iva Mae (Wood) Coppage. She married Leo H. Shutte, her husband of 46 years, on April 18, 1942; Leo passed away July 13, 1988, in Quincy, IL. Later, she married Albert E. Frese September 22, 1990, enjoying 20 years with Al until his passing on January 12, 2011, in Quincy, IL.

 

Mildred and Leo were blessed with three children, John L. Schutte; he passed May 12, 1988, Sandy Peters, she passed December 15, 2014, and Kathy (Michael) Rakers of Clinton, IL. Her marriage to Al included three stepchildren, Jack (Sybil) Frese of FL, Julie (Michael) Reiter of Quincy, IL and Rod (Jan) Frese of Quincy; he passed June 28, 2020.

 

Also surviving, Millie, are four grandchildren, Michelle Peters, Jonathan (Rose) Rakers, Jason (Colleen) Rakers, and Melissa White, five step grandchildren, Gina (Brad) Dietrich, Jen (Dustan) Kern, Kimberly Sammartino, Philip Frese, and Ryan Frese; eight great grandchildren, Carlie Schroeder, Ashley, and AJ Rakers, Sydney, Katelyn, and Michael Rakers, and Jaxson and Briggs White along with three great step grandchildren, Taylor Dietrich and Jacob and Michael Kern.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents.

 

Mildred worked at various jobs throughout her adult life being most proud of being a CNA at St. Mary’s Hospital in Quincy and later for Adams County Health Department.

 

Her favorite saying was, “It’s a great life, if you don’t weaken.” She was a survivor; she lost two husbands and two children. She survived breast cancer and at the age of 98 survived COVID. Millie was devoted to her family and friends. She loved life. At times she could be ornery but that is what made her special.
