Thomas Kelso Schettler, 77, of Virginia Beach, VA formerly of Wapella, IL passed away 11:33 AM, July 6, 2026 at Sentara Hospital, Virginia Beach, VA.

Services will be 11 AM, Friday, August 28, 2026 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Paul Stroup officiating.  Burial will follow at Long Point Cemetery Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wapella, IL.  Visitation will be 10-11 AM, Friday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

Thomas was born January 12, 1949 in Wapella, IL the son of Charles L. and Margaret A. (Kelso) Schettler. He married Judy Ann Losh. She passed away June 16, 2002.

Survivors include his brother, Charles Lee Schlettler, Breckenridge, CO; niece, Tiffani (Lariven) Franada, Dunlap, IL; nephews: Randall C. Stroup, Peoria, IL and Timothy Charles (Dana) Miller, Clyde TX; and special friend, Tawnya Troxel, Wapella, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Nancy Evans.

Thomas was a graduate of Wapella High School and the University of Illinois in 1971 with a degree in Agriculture Communications.  He was an accomplished musician and athlete.  Thomas spent his career in the management of hotels and restaurants.  Most of all, he was a good friend to those who knew him.
