Larry Lamont Phemister, 87, of Marion, IL passed away on August 1, 2026 at Lincolnshire Place, Decatur, IL.

Graveside services with Military Honors will be in December 2026 at Oakland Cemetery, Carbondale, IL with Pastor Bob Dickerson officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to First Baptist Church, Marion, IL.

Lamont was born October 3, 1938 in Mt. Vernon, IL the son of Laverne and Sevah (Rendleman) Phemister.

Survivors include his cousin, David Henard, Clinton, IL along with several close cousins.

Lamont was preceded in death by his parents.

Lamont was a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD.  He went on to serve his country in Saigon, Vietnam in 1963.  After serving in the armed forces, Lamont then worked at the University of Illinois both in Urbana-Champaign and in Chicago at the University Hospital as an administrator.  He then worked for the IRS in Washington, D.C.  Lamont loved computer software both as a vocation and hobby.

Lamont loved his family very much.  He was kind and generous to many people.  Lamont will truly be missed by all those who knew him well.
