Shirley F. Rittenhouse

Shirley F. Rittenhouse, 89, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 7:06 P.M. Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Haven of Farmer City.

A joint graveside service honoring William “Bill” and Shirley F. Rittenhouse will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 11, 2026, at Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois, with Kyle Kopp officiating. There will be no visitation.

Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home of Farmer City, Illinois, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Shirley was born on September 11, 1936, in Mahomet, Illinois, a daughter of Harold C. and Opal E. (Welch) Wheeler. She married William “Bill” Rittenhouse on November 19, 1955, in Farmer City, Illinois. He passed away December 19, 2025.

She is survived by her two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sister, Elizabeth (Mike) Cleveland of Plain City, Ohio.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Rittenhouse; three sons, Jerry A., Kenneth E. and Tony L. Rittenhouse; and three sisters, Dolores Buchanan, Patricia Smothers and Francis Reynolds.

She was a retired receptionist for Dr. George E. Castrovillo.  Shirley was a member of the First Christian Church in Farmer City, Illinois.  She enjoyed playing cards.

Shirley enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all.
