John Joseph Coomer 71 of Clinton, IL passed away peacefully at 4:30 P.M. February 26, 2026 at his home in Clinton, IL.

Graveside services will be 11 A.M. Saturday, March 21, 2026 at St. Patrick Cemetery, Tama, IA with Fr. Peter Jia officiating. The family has entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

John was born August 9, 1954 in Marshalltown, IA the son of Robert E. and Devota A. (Moyer) Coomer of Tama, IA. He graduated from Clinton High School in 1972. 

Survivors include his brother, Douglas E. Coomer of Decatur, IL and his very good friend Kevin Mandrell of Clinton, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol A. Paper. 

John was known for his love of animals and pursuit of knowledge.
