Jerold E. “Rick” Gelsthorpe, 62, of Waynesville, IL, passed away 12:20 AM, February 20, 2026 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, IL.

 

Services will be 11 AM Wednesday February 25, 2026 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with David Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Waynesville, IL. Visitation will be 10 - 11 AM Wednesday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.

 

Jerold was born August 20, 1963 in Clinton, IL the son of James E and Marsha (Wright) Gelsthorpe.

 

Survivors include his brother, Randall Gelsthorpe Eddyville, KY; Rick’s partner of 14 years Kim Hettinger, Waynesville, IL; nieces, Randa (Chris) Putnam, Eddyville, KY and Rachelle (Steve) Boggess, Greenville, KY; nephews, Raymond (Melinda) Deason, Eddyville, KY, Michael Gibbs, SC and Darrell (Rebecca) Wheeler, Owensboro, Ky, along with 8 great-nieces, and 3 great-nephews.

 

Jerold loved music and his two dogs, Hendrix and Joplin. He was an avid guitarist and was involved in A.A. He volunteered at the Waynesville Christian Church food pantry.
