Mary Agee Leach

Mary Agee Leach, 98 of Maroa, IL passed away February 16, 2026 at the Order of Eastern Star Home, Macon, IL.

 

Visitation will be held at 10AM with Eastern Star service and religious service following at 11AM Saturday, March 7, 2026 at the Maroa United Methodist Church, Maroa, IL with Rev.  Julie Dowler and Pastor Ed Cain officiating. Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to Breast Cancer Research or Maroa United Methodist Church, organ fund.

 

Mary Evelyn Agee was born February 2, 1928, the eighth child of ten, born to Benjamin Coy and Arnetta Baylor Agee in rural Macon County, IL.

 

Mary was a life member of the Maroa United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the United Methodist Women and served on numerous church committees. She was a 75 year member and past Matron of the Illini Chapter, OES. Mary was a den Mother for the Cub Scouts and a past member of the Friends of the Library. She was active in the PTA and had a lifetime membership to the Illinois PTA.

 

She and James W. Leach were married June 5, 1949 at the Maroa United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker. Jim preceded Mary in death on August 23, 2020. She is survived by her sons, Jim Leach, Jacksonville, AR, John (Diana) Leach of Maroa, IL and daughter, Karen (Randy) Melvin of Seminole, FL. Grandchildren, Shannon (Monte) Batson, John (Liz) Leach, Lance Melvin and Malia (A.J.) Blue. Great grandchildren, Nicki (Austin) Petrey, Miles Leach, Liam Leach, Emery Batson, Eliza Melvin, Mila Melvin, Isabella Blue and Ezekiel Blue. She is also survived by one step grandchildren and six step great grandchildren. One brother, James Agee survives. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Agee, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Woodrow, Coy Jr, Lyle, Dale, John and three sisters, Kitty, Carrie and Francis; and daughter-in-law Ariel Leach.

 

Mary enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, working in her yard and playing the piano. She also enjoyed her Wednesday bridge club friends and playing scrabble with her friends at the library.
