Gregory E. Birk, 62, of Clinton, IL passed away 9:25 AM, February 12, 2026 at his residence surrounded by loved ones.

A Celebration of Greg’s Life will be 2 PM, Saturday, February 28, 2026 at the Clinton Eagle’s Lodge.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Greg was born November 17, 1963 in Clinton, IL the son of Bennie and Verna (Chrispen) Birk.

Survivors include his children:  Justin Birk, Clinton, IL; Heather (Cole) Oros, Clinton, IL; Erika Birk, Clinton, IL; and Kyle Birk, Clinton, IL; one grandchild, Taygan Oros; mother, Verna Birk, Clinton, IL; life partner, Peggy Lobano, Clinton, IL; brother, Steve (Debbie) Birk, Clinton, IL; and his four-legged son, Zeus.

Greg was preceded in death by his father, Bennie, and two grandchildren, Jayci Oros and Cade Oros.

He will be remembered for his unmistakable sense of humor, a laugh that was louder than the jokes he told (and somehow funnier), and his lifelong love of sports, especially loudly rooting on the Chicago Cubs. Never short on confidence or charm, he once said, “We don’t need services because that place won’t hold all the people that would show up for me.” Anyone who knew him knows he probably wasn’t wrong.
