William R. “Bill” Rittenhouse, 88, of Farmer City, Illinois, passed away at 6:55 P.M. Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Haven of Farmer City.
His visitation will be held from 5:30 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, 106 N. Main St., Farmer City, Illinois. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Kyle Kopp officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery, Farmer City, Illinois.
Memorials may be made to Haven of Farmer City or the Champaign County Humane Society.
Bill was born on November 16, 1937, in Farmer City, Illinois, a son of Elman C. and LouRee (King) Rittenhouse. He married Shirley F. Wheeler on November 19, 1955, in Farmer City, Illinois.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley F. Rittenhouse of Farmer City, Illinois; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Martha (Ed) Gillespie of DeKalb, Illinois; and brother, Glen (Rita) Rittenhouse of Pekin, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elman and LouRee Rittenhouse; sons, Jerry A., Kenneth E. and Tony L. Rittenhouse; and siblings, Raymond and Thomas Rittenhouse, Irene Oakley, Laura Issac, and Nancy Baker.
Bill was a retired mechanic for Baum Chevrolet Buick in Clinton, Illinois.
He was a member of the First Christian Church in Farmer City, Illinois.
