Mary Viola Cox, 101, of Clinton, IL passed away 12:55 PM, December 7, 2025 at Haven of Farmer City, Farmer City, IL.

Services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at First Christian Church, Clinton, IL with Kevin Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Texas Township Cemetery, Clinton, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Wednesday at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Little Galilee Christian Camp.

Mary was born March 4, 1924 in Decatur, IL the daughter of William Tharan and Mary (Blackard) Lowery. She married Wayne Cox October 19, 1943 in Clinton, IL. He passed away February 3, 1998.

Survivors include her children: Richard C. (Cathy) Cox, Charleston, IL; Carol Sue (Larry) Paradee, Decatur, IL; Charlene Cox, Clinton, IL; Mary Jane Franklin, Farmer City, IL; Gloria (Phillip) Zehr, Bloomington, IL; Sherry (Kevin) Peterson, Clinton, IL; and Lila Maxine (Alan) Peterson, Dewitt, IL; along with 23 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren; 42 great-great grandchildren; and 4 great-great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Paul Randall “Randy” Cox and Donald Wayne Cox; one daughter, Dorothy Lowery; one brother and five sisters; four great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. 

Mary loved to play Bingo and cards.  Most of all, she loved spending time with her family.
