Thomas Lee Toohill, 66 of Mt. Pulaski, IL, passed away 7:28 AM November 30, 2025 at his family residence, Mt. Pulaski, IL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, December 11, 2025 at the Our Lady of the Prairie Parish St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wapella, IL with Fr. Thomas Szydlik Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2025 with Rosary Service 4:30 PM at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

Tom was born August 15, 1959 in Wapella, IL the tenth of thirteen children to Clement Martin and Helen A. (Rhodes) Toohill, Sr. While finishing his Master’s Degree in Agriculture Business at Southern Illinois University, he met and married his college sweetheart, JoAnne Christine Toohill; they were married in Bellona, NY, in November of 1984. They had two children, Brian Thomas Toohill and Emily Christine Toohill, to whom he was always their rock - there was never any doubt that their health and happiness were his number one priority. Whether it was heating his house with corn because LP had gotten too expensive or eating pork chops and sweet corn with every meal much to his children’s displeasure, one thing is for certain: he was into sustainable agriculture before it was cool. Known to most others as “Uncle Tommy,” he left all who knew him with their own stories to tell, but nobody could argue that he had a heart of gold and his intentions were pure. Also surviving are his siblings, Daniel (Rose Ann) Toohill, Heyworth, IL, Clement (Martha) Toohill, Jr., Bloomington, IN, Teresa (Richard) Carroll, Bloomington, IL, Connie Butrick, Bloomington, IL, Edward Toohill, Bloomington, IL, Matthew (Katherine) Toohill, Fairbury, IL, and Dennis (Martha) Toohill, Bloomington, IL. 

He was preceded in death by parents, siblings, Ann Dixon, Jean Thorp, Mary Helen Fanning, Kate Watson, and William Hugh Toohill.
