Rita K. Presson, 86, of Bloomington, IL passed away 4:02 PM, September 14, 2025 at Martin Health Center, Bloomington, IL.

Private graveside services will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Special Olympics Illinois, 605 E. Willow, Normal, IL 61761.

Rita was born October 21, 1938 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Evelyn J. (Sprague) Young and Orville B. Young. She married Ned A. Presson February 14, 1964 in Bloomington, IL.  He passed away March 18, 1989.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Holly Presson, Bloomington, IL, grandson, Brett (Laura) Presson, Chicago, IL, aunt, Edna May Sprague, Bloomington, IL and cousins, Mike (Beth) Sprague & family, Kathy Cavanaugh & family and Joye Solvie & family.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Rex Presson, daughter, Gayla Jo Presson, and grandson, Todd Presson.

For most of her professional career, Rita worked for General Telephone Company (GTE). After retiring, Rita worked for ISU. Rita was an avid Redbirds fan. She was fondly known as “Grandma” by some of the athletes and staff.  Rita loved to spend time and to travel with her family and friends, especially with her aunt, JoAnn Chamberlain. 

She loved her family and always looked forward to being with them, especially at the holidays. For the past few years, Rita was a beloved resident at Martin Health Center where she will be dearly missed by the staff.
