Rebecca Jean Terhark, of Argenta IL, died on Sept 12, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Rebecca “Becca” is the daughter of Steve and Jo Terhark of Argenta, who survive. She is also survived by her brother Eric Terhark, of Ankeny, IA, and her niece, Erica Terhark of Rantoul, IL. She was preceded in death by her biological mother, Carol Terhark (Melcher), and three sets of grandparents.

Rebecca struggled with many physical health issues for most of her life, but she always managed to rise above them. She was an avid supporter of life, volunteering at Living Alternatives Pregnancy Resource Center in Champaign for many years. But first and foremost, she grew to become a committed Christ follower, and servant. Rebecca loved sewing, crafts, painting, and cats. She painted small scenes to subtly depict each month of the year, and everyone featured a cat.

Rebecca had tremendous impact on more people than she ever knew. She did not let her physical limitations limit her. For as long as she was able, she was an active part of the children’s ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in Monticello. For many years, she also served as a phone counselor for the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. 

Though she has finished her race and received the crown of victory over death through Christ, we are left to mourn the loss of her presence. Every life she touched was made better and the world was better with her in it.

Services will be 10 AM Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Calvary Baptist Church, Monticello, IL with Pastor Josh Bledsoe and Pastor Jon Torrenga officiating. Burial will follow at Friends Creek Cemetery, Argenta, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday, September 19, 2025 at the church. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Argenta, IL with arrangements.
