Jane A. Hoke

Jane Ann Hoke, 81, of Clinton, IL, went home to be with the Lord on May 8, 2025, at John Warner Hospital.
Jane was born on May 19, 1943, in Dixon, Illinois, to George and Nellie Rasmussen. She graduated from Oregon Community High School in 1961 and earned her nursing credentials from the Rockford School of Practical Nursing in 1963. Later that year, on December 15, she married the love of her life, Larry G. Hoke. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Lori, on May 20, 1964.
A devoted nurse, Jane served countless patients with skill and compassion throughout her career. Her work at Decatur Memorial Hospital spanned departments including oncology, pediatrics, and same-day surgery. She also brought care and comfort to mothers and newborns during her time in obstetrics at John Warner Hospital. Beyond the hospital walls, Jane continued to give of herself—volunteering for several summers as the camp nurse at Camp Manitoumi while her grandchildren attended.
Jane’s heart for others extended well beyond her professional life. Known for her incredible hospitality, she opened her home to many including hosting many missionaries and frequently brought meals to her friends and neighbors. Her warm and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She was truly a sweet lady, known for her gentle demeanor and kind heart.
A woman of deep faith, Jane served for many years as a Sunday School teacher and AWANA leader at Riverside Baptist Church, where she joyfully shared the truths of the Bible with junior-age children. Her legacy of spiritual guidance and love for others will live on in the many lives she touched.
Jane especially cherished her time with family—whether around the dinner table or on the lake. She and Larry loved taking fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada, where she relished catching fish and enjoying shore lunches. Her family will fondly remember her incredible cooking, and no one ever left her table hungry.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Larry, and her two brothers, Jimmy and John. She is survived by her daughter Lori (Rodney) of Clinton, IL; her four grandchildren: Stephanie (Fred) Webber of Dayton, OH; Briana Harrier of Ankeny, IA; Nathan (Angela) Harrier of Plymouth, MI; and Caleb Harrier of Crittenden, KY; and four great-grandchildren: Charlie, Ivy, Harmon, and Malachi.
Jane’s life was marked by service, love, and grace. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
Services will be 11 AM, Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Don Estep officiating. Burial will follow at Baptist Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 9:30 – 11 AM, Monday at the funeral home.
