Thomas L. “Tom” Spencer, 82, of Clinton, IL passed away 6:40 PM, February 20, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Services will be 11 AM Wednesday, February 26, 2025 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Darrell Howard officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. 

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Tom Spencer Memorial Fund c/o Karen Woolridge. 

Tom was born April 4, 1942 in Clinton, IL the son of John James and Ruth Gillian (Jones) Spencer. He married Cheryl F. Williamson March 5, 1961 in Clinton, IL.  She passed away September 14, 2012.

Survivors include his son, David (Mary Jo) Spencer, Heyworth, IL and daughter, Karen (Rodney) Woolridge, Clinton, IL; grandchildren: Lucas (Kelsie) Woolridge, Bloomington, IL; Shelby (Bill) Domitrovich, Melbourne, FL; and Logan (Bianca Wilwohl) Woolridge, Bloomington, IL; Alex Herren; Justin (Nicole) Herren; Natalie (Danny) Krouse, eight great grandchildren. 

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Mary Gail Spencer.

Graduated Clinton High School 1960. Honorably discharged from Air Force 1960-1968. Worked at McDonald Douglas in St. Louis building F-4 planes. Retired from GTE/ Verizon in 1998 as an electronics instructor and supervisor. Founding member and charter president of Clinton Exchange Club served as district president, regional vice-president, and national vice-president focusing on child abuse prevention. Khoury league coach and president. County board 4 years and mental health board 3 years. Tom loved his grandkids and great grandkids more than anything attending every event they were in and bragging about them to anyone who would listen. He will truly be missed but his memories will live with us forever.
