Roy Franklin Strohkirch, 94, of DeWitt, IL passed away 3:21 PM November 7, 2024 at his family residence, DeWitt, IL.
Services will be 1 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2024 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Ernie Harvey, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Heyworth Cemetery, Heyworth, IL. Visitation will be 11 AM – 1 PM, Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Roy F. Strohkirch Memorial Fund.
He was born on April 19, 1930 in Stanford, IL to Frank and Lelia, who Roy thought were the best parents in the world. He married the love of his life, his woman, Deloris (Johnson) Hulvey on February 4, 1963.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son William Roy, his daughter-in-law Susie Hulvey, and four sisters Edna, Dorothy, Elsie and Ruth.
Roy was a lifelong farmer, who was devoted to his beloved John Deere tractors. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and never met a person who he couldn’t talk to. He enjoyed spending his mornings at McDonald’s talking with all his friends.
He is survived by his wife Deloris, son Don Hulvey, daughter Rose (Jeff) Overleese, daughter-in-law Debbie Strohkirch, four granddaughters Lyn (Brett) Carter, Laura (Dave) Zarecki, Anna (Jason) Torrence, and Ashley (Jason) Hodges. He had two grandsons Austin Thacker and Derek Rogers, and 7 great grandchildren Tristan and Mia Rogers, Hoyt and Leo Carter, Colton and Brooke Zarecki and Helen Torrence.
Roy was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His love and support was something to cherish. He will be missed.
