Glenn Ray Simmons

Glenn Ray Simmons, 85, of Clinton, IL passed away 9:49 AM, October 21, 2024 at Warner Hospital & Health Services, Clinton, IL.

 

Graveside Services with Military Honors will be 1 PM, Monday, October 28, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Rev. David Huff officiating.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.

 

Memorials may be directed to the American Legion. 

 

Glenn was born September 21, 1939 in Russellville, KY the son of Harmon and Mary Ruth (Hildabrand) Simmons. 

 

Survivors include his sister, Martha (Norman) Huff, Clinton, IL along with several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ralph Simmons. 

 

Glenn retired from the US Navy as a Master Chief Petty Officer and was a member of the American Legion.  Glenn spent 30 years in service to his country as a career Navy man.  He served in many locations worldwide.  It was while he was stationed in Taiwan that he met his beloved wife, “Hoko”.  They were married July 9, 1966 in Tainan, Taiwan.  She preceded him in death on April 2, 2013.

 

Glenn was an avid reader.  He liked playing cards and visiting friends at the Legion.
