Shirley Austine Thompson 89 of Clinton, IL went to her Heavenly Home at 9:05 PM August 17, 2024 at The Loft of Rock Springs, Decatur, IL.

Private Family Graveside services will be Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Pastors Doug and Rosemary Lowery officiating.  The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Shirley was born October 28, 1934 in Westervelt, IL the daughter of Robert Tracy and Esther Amanda (Hoke) Rawlings. She married Darwin Thompson, Sr. October 23, 1955 in Beason, IL.  He passed away March 29, 1994.

Survivors include her children, Darwin (Frannie) Thompson, Jr., Clinton, IL and Crystal (Larry) Bright, Penhook, VA;  grandchildren, Cybill (Chad) Hoke, Clinton, IL and Matthew Bright, Chicago, IL; great-grandchildren:  Bailey (Tanner) Huffman, Maroa, IL; Chad Alex (Haley) Hoke, Lincoln, IL; and Wesley Hoke, Clinton, IL; great-great-grandchildren:  Tilly Justine Huffman and Mack Dean Huffman, Maroa, IL; and beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and 1 infant brother.

Shirley was a loving Mother who was tender and kind. She attended the First Christian Church. Shirley enjoyed summer outings with her family and watching sports. She will be missed. "Her children rise up and call her blessed..." Proverbs 31:28
