Ashley Nicole Ooms, 37, of Weldon, IL passed away 6:52 PM, August 20, 2024 at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, Normal, IL.

Services will be 11 AM Tuesday, August 27, 2024 with an hour visitation prior at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Pastor Dennis Powers officiating. Burial will follow at Crum Cemetery, Wapella, IL.  Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Monday, August 26, 2024 at the funeral home. 

Ashley was born April 29, 1987 in Normal, IL the daughter of Donald and Theresa (Slaughter) Waddell.  She married Zachary Ooms October 16, 2010 in Bloomington, IL.

Survivors include her husband, Zachary Ooms, Weldon, IL; parents, Donald and Theresa Waddell, Wapella, IL; sister: Jessica Crosier, Bloomington, IL; maternal grandmother, Patricia (Gene) Walker, Congerville, IL; paternal grandmother, Mae Waddell, Washington, IL; niece, Madison Waddell; and nephew, Jonathon Waddell. 

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Bill Slaughter and paternal grandfather, Dalton Waddell. 

After graduating from Clinton High School, Ashley continued on to get her degree in Criminal Justice. She was an avid animal lover with special fondness for Pandas. Ashley was a very independent and determined person who was always strong in her faith. 

The family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to all the medical caregivers at Illinois CancerCare in Bloomington, the Northwestern Medicine Proton Center, the Mayo Clinic, the many departments at Carle BroMenn Medical Center, and especially the loving and compassionate medical staff on the hospice floor at BroMenn.

Memorials may be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to help cure childhood cancer, including those afflicted with Ewing Sarcoma.  www.stjude.org
