John Robert Salmond, 62, of Lakewood, CO passed away on Sunday March 31, 2024. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00pm Friday, June 21, 2024, at St. Patrick Church, Wapella, IL with Fr. Thomas Szydlik, Celebrant. The Visitation will be before the Mass at 1:30pm at the church. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella, IL. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will follow with family and friends at 4:30pm at Gill Street Restaurant, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church, The Salvation Army, WGLT Radio Normal, IL.

John was born August 14, 1961, in Decatur, IL, the son of Robert and Marilyn Walsh Salmond. He is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Salmond and Christine Salmond, Normal; Janet (Thomas) Paley, Fenton, MO; his brother, Michael Salmond, Denver, CO; his niece and nephew, Julia Paley (Chen) Hakak, Seattle, WA and Stephen Paley, Knoxville, TN, and his great niece Romi Hakak.

John graduated from Illinois State University in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication and Broadcasting. John worked as an Audio-Visual Technician and supervisor for Westfields Marriott Conference Center in Chantilly, VA, NASA Headquarters, Washington, DC and as a Virtual Meeting Coordinator for the Colorado State Capitol, Legislative Committee. John was a Member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).

John truly loved and cared for his family and friends. His instinctive sense of adventure along with his faith helped him navigate through life. John was blessed to experience life to its fullest. His quick wit, broad range of knowledge and quirky sense of humor will be missed by all.
