Rita Darlene (Leuchtenberg) Toohill, 89 of LeRoy, IL passed away 9:34 PM May 17, 2024 at her family home, LeRoy, IL.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 AM Friday, May 24, 2024 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Downs, IL with Father Stephen Willard and Father Dustin Schultz Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL. Rosary Services at 7 PM with Father Thomas Szydlik.

 

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

 

Rita was born March 25, 1935 in Bloomington, IL the daughter of Maurice F. and Edythe (Shoemaker) Leuchtenberg. She married William C. Toohill November 8, 1958 in Bloomington, IL.

Toohill, LeRoy, IL; children, Kenneth (Debra) Toohill, Heyworth, IL, William (Lisa) Toohill, LeRoy, IL, Timothy (Ann) Toohill, LeRoy, IL, Patrick Toohill, LeRoy, IL, Robert Toohill, DeWitt, IL, James (Erin) Toohill, LeRoy, IL, and Thomas (Kristie) Toohill, LeRoy, IL; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jessica, William, John, Bradley, Thomas, Charlotte, Samuel, Abigail, Kathryn, Gregory, James, Paul, Michael, Kevin, Anna, great grandchildren, Jayce, Kaylee, Lynsie, Ashley, Connor, Grace, Nolan, Alexander; siblings, Wayne Leuchtenberg, Galesburg, IL and Marietta Peve, Walnut, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gregory Toohill, great granddaughter, Melanie, and brother, Robert. 

 

Rita was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Downs. She loved gardening, crocheting, knitting, and quilting.
