Kimberly S. Young

Kimberly (Kim) S. Young, 66, of Maroa, IL, passed away on May 4th, 2024.

 

Kim was born on January 20th, 1958, in Peoria, IL. Kim graduated from Maroa-Forsyth High School in 1976. She worked various local jobs before working as a bookkeeper at the Maroa Farmer’s Co-Op Elevator for 15 years, and the Maroa-Forsyth School District Unit Office for 17 years. She enjoyed working with her close friend Rene Weikle, and retired from the District Office in 2015 to spend more time with her family. She was a member of the Maroa United Methodist Church.

 

She met Curtis (Curt) E. Young in high school, and they married on May 5th, 1979 at Maroa United Methodist Church. Kim & Curt were blessed with one son, Chad. Chad was born in 1983 in Decatur. Kim was looking forward to celebrating their 45th wedding anniversary with her family.

 

Kim enjoyed reading, shopping, and spending many summers at their cabin on Pana Lake. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed visiting her dad’s side of the family in Peoria as often as possible. She enjoyed the annual trip to the Apple & Pork Festival with her good friend Debbie Ooton.

 

Kim wanted to carry on her mother’s legacy as an exceptional caretaker for her grandkids and spent as much time with them as possible. She cheered them on at all of their activities, and never said no to taking them for ice cream after school or practice. They adored her, and miss their Mamaw very much.

 

She was preceded in death by her father, Byron Payne, her mother, Janice Mercer, brother-in-law, Richard Young, uncle, Gary McKinney, aunt, Joan Dobbs, and cousins, Darla Dobbs, Rick Dobbs, and Kevin McKinney.

 

She is survived by her loving husband, Curt, son, Chad (Lauren), and her grandchildren, Amelia & Colby; stepmom, Cecelia Payne, sister, Donna (Chris) Malone, brothers-in-law, Roger (Sherryl) Young, Charles (Pam) Young, sister-in-law, Barb Young, aunt, Marilyn McKinney, aunt, Marilyn Vise, cousin, Diane Dobbs, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

 

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, on Friday, May 10th, 2024, and a Funeral Service will be held at 10am on Saturday, May 11th with Rev. Mary Alice Cunningham officiating, both will be at the Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton.

 

Memorials may be made to the Maroa United Methodist Church or the Maroa-Forsyth School District Foundation.
