Mary Ann Maxwell, 74, of Clinton, IL passed away peacefully on April 10, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, IL.

Mary was born on January 17, 1950 in Bloomington, IL to Joseph Robert and Ann (Schmid) Maxwell.  She grew up on a dairy farm in Waynesville, IL.  Mary’s life on the farm was an inspiration for her love of animals, especially dogs and cats.

She graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents.  Surviving are her two brothers, Robert (Pat) Maxwell of Monticello, IL and Joseph Maxwell of Bloomington, IL.  One of her favorite times was preparing meals for the family.  Her nieces and nephews were especially fond of her homemade noodles and Katherine Hepburn brownies.

Mary will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, aunt, cousin to all the Schmid and Mehl kids, and friend.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12 noon, Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Clinton, IL with Fr. Thomas R. Szydlik, Celebrant.  Burial will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Wapella, IL.  Visitation will be 11 AM – 12 noon Wednesday at the church.  Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL is in charge of arrangements.
