Mildred June “Mickey” Sturgeon, 88 of Clinton, IL passed 8:15 PM February 29, 2024 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Graveside services will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. The family entrusted Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to Kenney Civic League and the Kenney Fire Department.

Mickey was born June 14, 1935 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Homer Harrold and Sylvia Rose (Barger) Cook. She married Richard V. Sturgeon February 25, 1956, in DeWitt County, IL.

Survivors include her children, Debra (Terry) Rhoades, Kenney, IL; Dick (Carol) Sturgeon, Kenney, IL; Diana (Doug) Oakley, Kenney, IL; George (Beth) Sturgeon, Clinton, IL, and Cheryl (Mike) Cyrulik, Clinton, IL, honorary daughter-in-law, Sandy Barger, 11 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dick on August 5, 2010; honorary son, Rick Barger, and three sisters, Betty, Nona, and Pearl.

Mickey was an established member of the Texas Christian Church, the Country Cloggers, DeWitt County Old Settlers, the DeWitt County Genealogical Society, and the D.A.R. (Daughters of the American Revolution). She volunteered for the Kenney Civic League and enjoyed Kenney Ladies Coffee Hour. She was also a graduate of Wapella High School.
