Dearl Allen Thomas, 82 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 3:03 A.M. December 14, 2023 at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Il.

Visitation will be 5-7 PM, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.  Private family burial will be Friday, December 22, 2023 at Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL.

Memorials may be directed to the Shriners Children’s Hospital or Cancer Care Specialists, Decatur, IL.

Dearl was born June 20, 1941 in Bright Star, AR the son of Bernice and Clara (Harvin) Thomas. He married Mary Jane Gettel August 15, 1980 in Clinton IL.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jane Thomas, Clinton, IL; children:  Mark Thomas, Atlanta, TX; Matthew and Tracy Thomas, LaPorte, TX; Angie Stauffer, Clinton, IL; and Ted Blanchard, Clinton, IL; nine grandchildren:  Jonathon Thomas, Michael and Alex Owen, Cain, Dylan, Max, and Jonah Stauffer, Zachary Thomas and Andrew Thomas and two great-grandchildren, Daylen Meade and Raiden Stauffer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, three sisters, and daughter, Cathy Thomas.

Dearl was a U.S. Army Veteran.  He was a retired Pipefitter from Local 211, Houston, TX and had worked at the Clinton Power Station.  Dearl was a member of the Eagles Lodge and a chili cook off champion.
