Michael “Mike” Perkins, 79, of Clinton, IL passed away 10:35 PM December 2, 2023 at Manor Court, Clinton, IL.

Visitation will be held 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Thursday, December 7, 2023 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with a service and military honors to follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the DeLand American Legion Post #102 or the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.

Mike was born August 4, 1944 in Clinton, IL the son of John and Lena (Hoge) Perkins. He married Carolyn Carr October 21, 1967 in LeRoy, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Perkins, Clinton, IL, children, Angie (Diann Thumser) McConkey, Madison, WI; Jill (Bill) Stewart, Walnut, IL; three grandchildren Kayla (Brian) Davenport, Michael (Lindsey) Perkins, and Dane Stewart; siblings Marcia (Howard) Owens, Sullivan, IL; Connie (Clifford) Dobbs, Sullivan, IL; John (Carol) Perkins, Springfield, IL; Jeff (Pam) Perkins, Minonk, IL and  sister-in-law Paula Perkins, Sullivan, IL.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents; son, Brian Perkins; and brother, Jim Perkins.

Mike was a long-time farmer and known to have the straightest and cleanest rows in DeWitt Co. He was an over-the-road semi-truck driver that drove from coast to coast.  He was a member of the Clinton Eagles Lodge, the DeLand American Legion Post #102, and the DeWitt County Farm Bureau.  He was a Little League coach and previous school board member at DeLand – Weldon Schools. He served his country in the US Marine Corp Reserves. He was a great storyteller and an avid sports fan who never missed his kids’ and grandkids’ games.  Mike loved and was so proud of his family.  He was a very generous man who would help anyone at any given time.  He was small in size, yet mighty in life and will be missed by all.
