Benne J. Buchanan, 84, of Farmer City, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana, Illinois at 7:43 P.M.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 15, 2023, in Memorial Park Cemetery, Clinton, Illinois, with Pastor Jim Kilson officiating. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to Little Galilee Christian Camp, Clinton, Illinois.  Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home of Farmer City, is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Benne was born on February 2, 1939, in De Land, Illinois, a son of George and Margaret White Buchanan. He married Virginia L. Jenkins May 29, 1965, at the First Christian Church, Clinton, Illinois. She passed away January 22, 2021.

 

Benne is survived by his daughter, Karen Buchanan of Grayslake, Illinois; son, Brian Buchanan of Tolono, Illinois; grandson, Bowen Buchanan of Tolono, Illinois; and brother, Keith (Loretta) Buchanan of DeWitt, Illinois.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia L. Buchanan; parents; four brothers; and two sisters.

 

Benne was a retired carpenter. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the Lane Christian Church.
