Marvin Harris

It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Judith Kay Martin Harris announces the death of her beloved husband, Marvin Eugene Harris, 76. Mr. Harris passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 5, 2022.

 

A funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL, with burial to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Clinton, IL with Military Honors.  The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 12:00 until 1:00 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Marvin was born on June 20, 1945, in Clinton, IL. He was the son of the late Marvin Byron Harris and Norma Jean Long Stiles.

 

He loved his wife of 53 years and loved being a family man with great pride, and he loved his children and grandchildren -- Anything to make them happy. He worked many jobs, including at Caterpillar as a machinist, to teaching classes at Florence-Darlington Tech in his retirement. Being able to teach the values of hard work to the next generation brought him great joy.

 

He enjoyed many hobbies: traveling with his wife, fishing, car shows, one of his favorites, model trains, and train shows with his son.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, Judith Kay Martin Harris; sons, Martin E.. Harris, Christopher P. Harris, Jereme W. Harris; brothers, Clarence Stiles; sisters, Patricia Kochman, Darlene Root; grandchildren, Mitchell Harris, Weylan Harris, Austin Harris, Ashton Harris.
