Laura A. Benedict, 65, of Lincoln, formerly of McLean, passed away at 3:18 p.m. on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. 

 

No services are planned at this time. Cremation Rites have been accorded. 

 

Laura A. Long was born August 13, 1956, the daughter of Robert G. and Ollie A. Rich Long. She was united in marriage to Carl Benedict. He preceded her in death in 2010. 

 

Laura is survived by her sons: Robert (Wilma) Atchison and William (Amanda ) Atchison; six grandchildren: Aeryahna, Isaiah, Kennedy, Caleb, Isabella, and Lana; two sisters: Diane (Gary) Peiffer and Marilyn Kirby; and two step-daughters: Rhonda Reed and Carey Benedict. 

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters: Shirley Terrell and Barbara Otto, and one brother: William Long. 

 

Laura had worked at the bottle factory in Lincoln and also as a bartender. She loved arts and crafts and camping, especially along the river with Carl, and getting together with her classmates from McLean. 

 

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or an organization of the donor's choice.
