Barbara  Jackson 77 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 2:30 PM May 22, 2021 at her family residence, Clinton, IL, a victim of cancer.

 

Services will be 11 AM, Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Scott Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL. Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM, Thursday at the funeral home.

 

Memorials may be directed to The Kenney Civic League, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or The American Cancer Society.

 

Barbara was born on February 27, 1944 in Clinton, IL the daughter of Alvin and Norma Jean (Ayers) Johnson.  Alvin, her father, was killed in World War II, in October of that year.  Her mother married Frank Lemmel, Jr. in 1948, and Barbara gained the best dad she could have ever wanted.  She grew up on the Lemmel farm near Kenney, IL, graduated from Clinton High School in 1962, and attended I.S.U. for two years. 

 

She married Paul Bean in 1964, lived in Bloomington and had one son, Eric.  She later married Rodger Dixon, in 1988 and lived on his farm near Kappa, IL.  Rodger died in 2004.  She then married Gene Jackson, in 2005 lived in El Paso, IL until they moved to Clinton in 2014.  Gene died in February 2018.

 

Barbara loved music, played the piano and cornet, and enjoyed garage sales, thrift shops, traveling and camping.

 

She is survived by her son, Eric (Heather) Bean, El Paso, IL; five grandchildren:  Michael (Kandice) Bean, Kevin (Cameron) Bean, Becky Bean, James Bean, and Genna Bean; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jerry (Jackie) Lemmel, Clinton, IL; one sister, Terri Lemmel, Clinton, IL; two nephews, and one niece.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and three husbands.
