Lorin Karl Borton, Jr. 89 of DeLand, IL passed away 10:01 PM October 24, 2019 at Kirby Medical Center, Monticello, IL.

 

A time to celebrate Karl’s life will be 1 – 3 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the DeLand American Legion, DeLand, IL.  Calvert Funeral Home, DeLand, IL assisted the family with cremation rites.

 

Memorials may be directed to the DeLand Christian Church.

 

Karl was born September 2, 1930 in Champaign, IL the son of Lorin Karl and Grace (Hutchinson) Borton, Sr. He married Loveta Ann Jasper June 3, 1950 in Winchester, IL. She passed away March 31, 2016. He later married Joan (Sypult) Manning March 17, 2017 in DeLand, IL.

 

Survivors include his wife, Joan Borton, DeLand, IL; children, Karla LeVeque (Greg Stoklos) Tucson, AZ; Shelly (Jack) Weakly, Bloomington, IL; Robin (John) Borton-Scott, Champaign, IL; Thomas (Kelly) Borton, Gibson City, IL; 6 grandchildren; Joshua (Rachel) Weakly, Bloomington, IN; Chelsea (Branden) McEachern, Bloomington, IL; Haylee Weakly, Chicago, IL; Ashley (Scott) Zachry, Katy, TX; Austin (Jasmyne) Borton, Milwaukee, WI; Blythe Borton, Scottsdale, AZ; 4 great-grandchildren:  Audrey, Hannah, and Gwyneth Weakly, Bloomington, IN; and Jeffery Zachry, Katy, TX; step-children:  Kris (Kevin) Fink, DeLand, IL; and Kara Manning, Bloomington, IL; step-grandchildren:  Kacie (Chase) Woods, DeLand, IL; Jesse (Rachel) Fink, Mansfield, IL; and Bailey Fink, DeLand, IL; step-great-grandchildren:  Makenna and Memphis Woods, DeLand, IL; Weston and Brody Fink, Mansfield, IL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Barbara Trenaman.

 

Karl was a member of the Masonic Lodge #812 A.F. & A.M., DeLand, IL and the Shriners as well as a trustee of the E. F. Wildermuth Foundation.  He retired from farming in 2018.  Karl was a Cardinal Baseball fan and loved his special pet German Shephard, “Trina” and loved riding his horse “Stormy”.
