William Perhay

William Anthony Perhay, 80, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., passed away Jan. 20, 2019 at his home surrounded by his wife and family.

 

Bill was born April 27, 1938, in LaSalle, the son of Anton and Mary Erwin Perhay.

 

He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1959. Bill spent time working at his family’s business, Tony and Sons 66 in East Peoria, Schumacher Chevrolet in Metamora, and eventually opened his own Chevrolet dealership, Bill Perhay Chevrolet (1973-1991), in Farmer City. Upon moving to Florida in 1993, Bill continued his career in car dealerships before going into the home mortgage business in 1997. Bill and his wife, Joan, have enjoyed spending quality time with their daughter and her family since their retirement in 2013.

 

Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Joan Hoffman Perhay. Bill is also survived by four sons, Milton (Angie) Perhay, Mahomet; Rodney (Julie) Perhay, Oakwood; Timothy (Sabrina) Walsh, Farmer City; and Craig Walsh, Dewitt; three daughters, Toni Ann (Michael) Steward, Burkesville, Ken.; Melody (Stacey) Perhay, Corpus Christi, Texas; and Summer (Tom) Perhay Kuba, Port St. Lucie, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Kathy) Perhay, Washington; and many nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, and brother, Kenneth (Shelly) Perhay.

A celebration of his life will be from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Woodlawn County Club, Farmer City.
