Opal I. Shoemaker, 88 of Maroa, IL passed away 10:31 P..M. July 5, 2019, at her family residence, Maroa, IL.

 

Visitation will be 10 – 11 AM Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at the Calvert Funeral Home, Maroa, IL.  Private graveside services will immediately follow the visitation at the Maroa Cemetery, Maroa, IL with Scott Marsh officiating.

 

Memorials may be directed to the Texas Christian Church or the Maroa Fire and Rescue.

 

Opal was born December 18, 1930, at home in DeWitt County, IL the daughter of Thelbert and Viola (Benningfield) Wise. She married Willard D. Shoemaker July 6, 1952, at the Maroa Christian Church. He passed away on July 25, 2016.

 

Survivors include her children, Gay W. Shoemaker, Maroa, IL; Eric E. Shoemaker, Maroa, IL; Linda M. (Mark) Welch, Council Bluffs, IA; Marsha E. Shoemaker, Schaumburg, IL; Melody A. (William) Morse, Kansas City, MO; 5 grandchildren, David (Jesse) Shoemaker, John (Cassy) Shoemaker, Jillian (Julio) Medrano, Joseph (Charis) Welch, Jacob Welch, 7 great-grandchildren, 1 step-great-grandchild, 2 nieces, Shirley (Robert) Marquiss, Vienna, IL and Sheila Dawson, Bethany, IL.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, 1 brother-in-law, and nephew.

 

Opal was a farm wife and homemaker.
