James L. "Jim" Nalley Jr.

James L. “Jim” Nalley Jr., 89, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away at 12:55 P.M. Saturday, May 25, 2019, at his home in Le Roy, Illinois.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 1, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2019, at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois, with military rites accorded.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Le Roy, Illinois, or the Ruel Neal American Legion Post 79, Le Roy, Illinois.

 

Mr. Nalley was born October 11, 1929, in Le Roy, Illinois, to James Louis and Nellie Catherine Merrifield Nalley Sr. He married Mary E. Scaggs on August 29, 1953, in Clinton, Illinois. She passed away January 6, 2012.

 

He is survived by his two sons, Danny Ray Nalley of Greenville, Tennessee, and Earl Eugene (Katrina) Nalley of Le Roy, Illinois; daughter, Cathy Lynn (Ronald) Maaks of Normal, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Meghan Lynn (Kevin) Pittman; Daniel Ray Nalley; Jennifer Nalley; Dustin (Ashley) Nalley; Makayla Nalley; Jeremiah Ryburn; and Scott (Anndrea) Roberts; ten great-grandchildren, Anslee, Miley and Nolan Pittman, Alex and Madison Ryburn, Zoey and Olivia Nalley, Bryer and Bentley Nalley, and Caleb Roberts.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Albert, Joe, Ralph, and Lyle Nalley; three sisters, Mary Grace Cash, Pauline Saunders and Helen Brickey; two great-grandchildren, Tucker James Pittman and Carver James Roberts; and one daughter-in-law, Sharon "Sheri" Nalley.

Jim was a member of the United States Army National Guard from 1949 to 1952. He retired from Rowe Construction as a heavy equipment operator in 1992.

 

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, Le Roy, Illinois. Jim was a member of the Ruel Neal American Legion Post 79, Le Roy, Illinois, and the Local 649, Peoria, Illinois.
