Phyllis Tarter

Phyllis L. Tarter, 87, of Staunton, Illinois, formerly of Clinton, Illinois, passed away at 1:29 P.M. Thursday, May 23, 2019, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital, Springfield, Illinois. 

 

Her funeral will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 27, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with Pastor John and Pastor Susie Deeters officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery Le Roy, Illinois. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Monday, May 27, 2019, at the funeral home. 

 

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

 

Phyllis was born October 27, 1931, in Le Roy, Illinois, a daughter of Harland and Jessie Simmons Kimler. She married Ray C. Tarter on September 28, 1956, in Le Roy, Illinois. He passed away September 17, 1988.

 

She is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey (Julie) Tarter of Channahon, Illinois, and Timothy J. Tarter of Staunton, Illinois; two grandsons, Jacob and Logan Tarter; and several nieces and nephews. 

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister.

 

Phyllis worked for State Farm. She and her husband owned and operated, The Camelot Restaurant and Lounge in Clinton, Illinois, The Town and Country Motel in Clinton, Illinois, and The Elmortel Motel in Farmer City, Illinois. She was a member of the Le Roy Christian Church, and a member of the Joe Williams American Legion Auxiliary, Unit 55, Farmer City, Illinois, for over 50 years.
