Denis Dean Miller, 67, peacefully passed away on Saturday (May 11, 2019) at Liberty Village of Clinton. He had suffered from an unknown form of early-onset dementia and is now healed and home with his Savior, Jesus.
Denis was born on Aug. 17, 1951, in Carlock, to Christian E. and Betty L. Miller. They precede him in death.
Surviving are Denis' son and daughter, Adam Miller, Danvers, and Angela (Joseph) Witte, rural Waynesville, and six beloved grandchildren, Jordan, Genesis, Jacob, Judah, Jasper and Justus Witte. Also surviving are two brothers, Chris C. (Phyllis) Miller, Carlock, and Roger (Crystal) Miller, Fairbury; and one sister, Joan (Rich) McVey, Lexington, N.C.; along with many nieces and nephews.
Denis leaves behind a beautiful legacy of a faith walk with his Heavenly Father and serving God's family. He also leaves behind a powerful example of a life in constant servanthood to his family, friends and any fellow man in need. Until his illness, Denis lived his entire life in the communities of Carlock and Danvers, serving in countless areas as church camp cook, St. Jude cross country run and fundraising at McLean County Fair, Fellowship of Christian Farmers, Illinois Ag in the Classroom Bike Ride, Logan prison ministries, Walk to Emmaus, and as a church elder to name just a few. One of his greatest community services was the decades spent on the volunteer Danvers Fire and EMS, rescuing with a bold and tender heart, praying and comforting those in distress and need, once even helping to deliver a baby in the ambulance.
A celebration of life service is planned for 10 a.m. June 3 at East White Oak Bible Church, Carlock, with Senior Pastor Scott Boerckel officiating. A private family memorial tree planting will be held on Aug. 17, on what would have been Denis' 68th birthday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials toward the Denis Miller Memorial Tree Fund. Most earnestly desired, the family also request that letters of remembrance be sent in honor of the many acts of kindness and service given to others throughout Denis' life.
