Ruth C. Dalrymple Wieting

Ruth C. Dalrymple Wieting, 98, LeRoy, formerly of Bloomington and Lake Bloomington, passed away peacefully Jan. 22, 2019, at LeRoy Manor.

 

She was born Aug. 15, 1920, in Nokomis, a daughter of the Rev. Dr. Edwin Lester Tobie and Carrie Jane Mansfield Tobie.

 

A celebration of life service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Second Presbyterian Church, Bloomington, with lunch after the service and time to greet the family.

 

She is survived by a daughter, Janet Schroeder (Richard), LeRoy; grandchildren, Amy Dalrymple-Hill, Aurora; Keith Dalrymple (Jennifer), Wapella; Dr. Nicholas Schroeder (Suzanne), Hutchinson, Kan.; and Tobie Schroeder, Chicago; stepdaughter, Jean Wieting Chakour (Elias), Tampa, Fla.; daughters-in-law, Ellen Laesch Dalrymple, Gurnee, and Gail Dalrymple, Montgomery, Texas; great-grandchildren, Kayleigh and Braelyn Hill, Jacob Dalrymple and Lucille Eun Schroeder; as well as 11 stepgrandchildren and 12 step great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gerald W. Dalrymple Sr.; her second husband, Kenneth J. Wieting; her companion in later years, Frank Knoll; her sons, Gerald W. Dalrymple Jr. and David T. Dalrymple; and stepson, Daniel Wieting.

 

She was a 1941 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University and earned a master's in reading from Illinois State University. A member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, PEO Chapter AW, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers honorary, and a member of Second Presbyterian Church.

 

As Mrs. Dalrymple, she taught first grade at Hudson Elementary School and then as Mrs. Wieting, fourth grade reading at Sugar Creek Elementary in Normal.
