B. Vernell Mattingly

B. Vernell Mattingly, 82, of Le Roy, Illinois, passed away at 5:30 P.M. Monday, May 6, 2019, at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, Illinois. 

 

Her visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M. Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois. Vernell’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 10, 2019, at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, Le Roy, Illinois, with Pastor Chris Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Le Roy, Illinois. 

 

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. 

 

Vernell was born June 1, 1936, in Addison, Alabama, to Johnnie and Lottie Moore Lancaster. They precede her in death. She married Paul Edward Mattingly on June 4, 1954, in Clinton, Illinois. He passed away May 24, 2000.

 

She is survived by her two sons, Paul Ray (Kay) Mattingly of Olathe, Kansas, and Robert (Kathy) Mattingly of Oakwood, Illinois; daughter, Minnie Kay Webb of Le Roy, Illinois; daughter-in-law, Cindy Mattingly of Mahomet, Illinois; sister-in-law, Mary Mattingly of Bloomington, Illinois; grandchildren, Michelle (Curtis) Oregeron; Lindsay Hale; Tina Mattingly; Erick (Nikki) Mattingly; Moe (Lindsay) Mattingly; Kelly Barkley; Brandy (Jason) Compton; Melissa (Steve) Schweigert; sixteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her son, Claude Junior Mattingly, five brothers and five sisters. 

Vernell was a member of the Le Roy Baptist Church. She worked at Thorp Seed Company, Wapella, Illinois, and was a Room Assistant at Le Roy Manor for many years. She enjoyed walking beans, but most of all she loved Family gatherings. 

 

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and devoted friend who will be deeply missed.
