David W. Moore, 78, of Monticello, passed away at 2:21 p.m., May 1, 2019 at the Kirby Medical Center, Monticello.

 

David was born October 18, 1940 in Danville, IL the son of Marion Ellsworth and Emily Mae (Foster) Moore. He married Linda Sue Matthews on August 5, 1966 in Danville, IL.     

 

He is survived by his wife, Linda Moore of Monticello; daughters, Jill Reynen (Jeff Kurtz) of Champaign, Jodi Lawson (Jay) of Mahomet, Jami McCall (Brian) of Monticello; grandchildren, Olivia and Sophie Reynen, Mia and Miles Epley, Austin, Corbin, Carson, Tatum, and Aaliyah McCall; brother, Bill Moore of Clearwater, FL; sisters, Sharon Catlin (Steve) of Louisville, KY, Debra Lynn (Dave) of Lone Tree, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and sons Thomas and Troy.   

 

David worked for Construction Engineering Research Lab (CERL) and served in the U.S. Army. David enjoyed watching old movies, listening to oldies and going out to dinner, but most of all he especially loved spending time with his children and attending his grandchildren’s activities. He will be deeply missed by them.

 

A visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Monday, May 6, 2019 at the Mackey-Wright Funeral Home, Monticello followed with a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Rev. Bud McMasters officiating. Interment will be held in the Rossville Cemetery, Rossville, IL with a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2019 along with military graveside rites.

 

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

The family would like to thank all the wonderful and caring staff at Kirby Medical Center. Each and everyone of them were amazing.
