John R. Monical

John R. Monical, 85, of Le Roy, IL passed away on April 16, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on July 15, 1933 in Louisville, IL the son of John M. and Blanch (Stewart) Monical. He married Patricia Ann Bishop on October 23, 1954 in Eureka, IL and she survives.

 

Mr. Monical is also survived by his children: Vickie (Dan) Bruning, Mike (Teresa) Monical, John (Barb) Monical, and Tammi (Glen) Stubblefield all of Le Roy. In addition to his children he is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jason (Katie) Bruning, Dave (Jamie) Bruning and Becky (Blake) Wahls; Lindsay (Jeremy) Mattingly, Amy (Matt) Golden, Whitney (Megan) Monical; Tanya (Ben) Underhill, Michelle (Michael) Pudge, Daniel Monical; thirteen great-grandchildren Adalyn, Adrienne, Jackson, Josephine, Kolton, Landon, Logan, Marley, Owen, Quinn, Trever, Tyler, Vanessa; and one great-great-grandchild Brantley. He is also survived by two sisters Ramona Gaffney of Le Roy and Judy Arrospide of Carlock.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandchild Brian, three sisters Florida Foltz, Bethel Phillips Hendrix, and Evelyn Monical Starnes.

 

John was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He enjoyed playing cards and games, also talking and joking with the grandchildren. He enjoyed visits from family and friends alike. He was an avid fisherman, loved camping and had a passion for painting. He loved dogs, and always had them in his home. His most current pal is Lulu.

 

He was retired from the Laborers International Union Local 362. He was proud of his service in the Korean War and was always ready to tell you a story about it. His service took him to countries overseas and he continued traveling with his family to places all over the US. He stories will remain with us. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

 

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 10:30am at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road. Visitation will be held from 9am until time of services on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Memorial contributions may be made in John’s name to Land of Lincoln Honor Flight. Entombment will be held at a later date at East Lawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
