Martha Jean (Williams) Troxel

Martha Jean Troxel, 90, of Crest Hill, IL formerly of Decatur, IL passed away 5:55 A.M. March 17, 2019 at Willow Falls Assisted Living, Crest Hill, IL.

 

Services will be 10 AM Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL with Rev. Wayne Williams officiating and Roger Troxel with his tribute on the bagpipes.. Burial will follow at Lisenby Cemetery, Lane, IL. Visitation will be 5 – 7 PM Friday, March 22, 2019 at the funeral home. The family would request friends and family to wear colorful casual attire in Jean’s honor.

 

In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Joliet Area Hospice, Shriner’s Hospital for Children, or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

 

Jean was born February 22, 1929 in DeWitt County, IL, the daughter of Elbert and Edith (Gibson) Williams. She married Perry E. “Pete” Troxel, Jr. July 29, 1951 in Wayne County, IL.

 

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Perry E. “Pete” Troxel, Jr., Crest Hill, IL; children, Danny Troxel; Margie (Tom) Corcoran, Joliet, IL; Anne (Mike Brumfield) Troxel, Lubbock, TX; Becky (Jerry) Buchanan, Decatur, IL; 4 grandchildren, Krystal (Ed) Cicenas, Clinton, IL; Justin Peel, Joliet, IL; Jessica (Mario) Jackson, Joliet, IL; and Allie Buchanan, Decatur, IL; 4 great-grandchildren, Alexis Peel, Zander Cicenas, Dani Jackson, and Josie Jackson.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers:  Eldon Williams, Thomas “Tom” Williams, William “Bill” Williams, Richard “Dick” Williams, Charles “Charlie” Williams, Jacob Williams, Donald “Don” Williams, Wilbur Williams, and infant brother Williams, and 1 sister, Alice Doss.

 

Jean was a graduate from Clinton High School and went on to work at State Farm in Bloomington, IL where she met the love of her life.

 

She loved to play bingo, and slot machines. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
