Joseph E. Stewart

Joseph E. Stewart 89 of Clinton, Illinois passed away 1:50 PM March 6, 2019 at his daughter’s residence, Bettendorf, Iowa.

 

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 AM, Wednesday, March 13, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Clinton, IL. Burial will follow at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Kenney, IL with Military Honors. Visitation will be 9:30 – 10:40 AM, Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home, Clinton, IL.

 

Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

 

Joseph was born June 9, 1929 in Oakley, Il. the son of James B. and Mary Ruth (McAtee) Stewart. He married Mary A. Hadley December 29, 1954 in Decatur, Il. She passed away May 10, 2000.

Survivors include his children, Connie L. Barry, Bettendorf, IA; Joseph Eugene (Karen) Stewart, Lincoln, IL; and Sherrie Lynn McMillian, Clinton, IL; grandchildren: Anita Stone, Clinton, IL; James F. (Janet) Barry, Clinton, IL; Kimberly Castillo, Lincoln, IL; Johnny (Angelic) Baca, Albuquerque, N.M.; Jessica (Tony) Ingram, Louisiana; Jennifer (Ed Kivlehan) Stewart, LeRoy, IL; Stephanie (Mark) Seketa, California; and Phillip McMillian, St. Louis, MO; 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Helen Lyons, Decatur, IL.

 

Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; 1 son, Marvin Stewart; and 1 grandson, Jeffrey L. Barry, Jr.

 

Joseph was a US Airforce Veteran. He was a butcher and owned Stewarts Meat Market, Clinton, IL and Stewart Motors in Albuquerque, N.M. Joseph was in 9 Country and Western films. He enjoyed playing the guitar.
