Mary Kathleen Lausterer

Mary Kathleen Lausterer, 84, of Heyworth, passed away Sunday (March 3, 2019) at her daughter's home in Hudson surrounded by her family.

 

Kathleen's memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heyworth Christian Church, Heyworth, with Youth Director Candi Evans officiating. Inurnment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, Heyworth Fire Department or Heyworth Public Library. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.

 

Kathleen was born June 18, 1934, in Normal, to Charles E. and Dorothy Barnes Williams. She married Benny Eugene Lausterer on June 22, 1951, in Heyworth. He preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 1993.

 

Kathleen is survived by her daughters, Sharon (Skip) Southwick, Hudson, and Mary Christianer, Bloomington. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Adam (Nicole) Southwick and David (Meghan) Christianer; great-grandchildren, Savana, Daniel, Mary and Jeffery; sisters, Martha Brown and Linda Bounds, both of Green Valley, Ariz.; and a sister-in-law, Barbara Williams, St. Joseph.

 

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law, Don Christianer; and her brother, James Williams.

 

Kathleen worked for The Eureka Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1994. She was a member of the Young at Heart at the Heyworth Christian Church. She loved listening to music with her friends, bluegrass festivals, going out dancing, antiquing and was an avid reader. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Kathleen was not afraid to live her life to the fullest and the family knows when she arrived in heaven she was greeted with music and dancing.

 

The family would like to thank BroMenn Hospice for their care, kindness and compassion, and also thank her special friend Rex for his help and companionship over the years and during her last days.
